NURSERY- Education for ages 3 - 4

The Nursery at Coventry Preparatory School was purpose-built in 1999. It is an open plan nursery which caters for up to 40 children aged from 3 - 4. There are also excellent outdoor facilities, with a large infants’ playground ― where a range of ‘wendy’ houses and other equipment are located ― as well as a new adventure playground. Nursery pupils also use other school facilities, such as the Sports Hall and Dining Room.

Children are able to join the Nursery in the term following their third birthday if they are mature enough to cope with a pre-school nursery environment. Parents can opt for their children to attend for five mornings per week (lunch is optional) or five afternoons or for five full days.

All staff are qualified and the Nursery Nurse to pupil ratio is 1 : 8.

The School covers the Foundation Stage curriculum which begins prior to a child starting his/her formal schooling (Reception). Members of staff receive training through the School’s links with the Early Years of Coventry Local Education Authority and through the Incorporated Association of Preparatory Schools. Regular inspections take place, led by the Independent Schools’ Inspectorate and Ofsted. As a result of this, the School offers the Early Years Voucher Scheme which can reduce fees by approximately £450 per term until the term when a child becomes 5 years of age.

The Nursery Day:
The Nursery day is a subtle blend of organised activities, both indoor and outdoor, which help children to develop physically, socially and academically. It aims to release their creativity, build their confidence and help them to interact with other children through providing the freedom to play, explore and create. The foundations for future success at school are laid through the careful planning of what is in fact a complex and subtle educational structure but which seems to the children to be a wonderful, interesting and happy place to be.
